Probate Fees (Ontario)

Probate fees are payable on the total value of the assets that are being probated. The rate is $5 per $1,000 on 1st $50,000 and $15 per $1,000 on the balance.

There are no probate fees if:
RRSPs, RRIFs, life insurance, and annuities have named beneficiaries
Assets are held jointly
Assets are held in an Alter Ego trust (must be over 65)
Assets are outside of Ontario
You reside in Quebec
